Since training has always been a priority at Cascades, large sums have been invested year after year to enhance the skills and knowledge of our employees. In 2010 alone, our training investments totaled $11 million.
Continuous Education
To enable its employees to fully benefit from their careers, Cascades provides access to customized continuous training programs to fill their needs and, among other things, offers mentoring. Employees also have access to bursaries and study leave.
Training Centre
Located near the head office and renamed in 2007 the Alain-Lemaire Skills Development Centre to honour its ten years of existence, Cascades' training centre offers a training program for everyone from plant employee to manager to office staff.
Partnership with Educational Institutions
To allow its employees to develop new skills, Cascades has developed partnerships with various educational institutions. These institutions regularly provide the programs adapted to the specific needs expressed by our employees.
Internal Promotions
Cascades makes it a point to promote advancement internally for employees who demonstrate the ability and interest to take on new duties. Thus, each new position or job vacancy is first posted internally. Moreover, through an annual assessment program jointly carried out with his supervisor, the employee can express his professional aspirations in the short-, medium- and long-term, and can take the opportunity, for example, to work in another plant located abroad or to change sector of activity.
