Sustainable development: Development that meets the needs of today without compromising the ability of future generations to meet the needs of tomorrow. In a corporate context, sustainable development is the manner in which the organization manages its business to create value for shareholders and stakeholders while having a positive impact on society and minimizing the environmental impacts.

Stakeholders: Any person or organization having a potential impact on Cascades or being impacted upon by Cascades. Cascades' primary stakeholders include:

  • Organizations in respect of which Cascades has a legal, financial or operating responsibility (e.g., investors, clients, suppliers)

  • Stakeholders affected by Cascades' activities (e.g., the community, employees, associations)

  • Stakeholders that may influence Cascades' performance (e.g., governmental and regulatory authorities, competitors, the media)
