Partners invite the population to contribute to a participative fundraising campaign
MONTREAL, QC, September 27, 2018 – Since 2005, Cascades and its Quebec employees have been actively engaged with the Fondation Charles-Bruneau to contribute to its vision of a future where all children with cancer enjoy a full recovery and renewed health. For the first time this year, the company, in collaboration with IGA, invites the population to contribute to a participative fundraising campaign, where $0.50 will be donated to the Fondation for every purchase of participating Cascades Fluff™ or Cascades Tuff™ products in one of the Quebec IGA stores, from September 27 to October 3, 2018.
The funds raised during this campaign will be added to the $ 355,000 collected by Cascades since the beginning of 2018, and will be used mainly to pursue scientific progress in pediatric oncology. Indeed, the Fondation Charles-Bruneau has always focussed on research funding to improve the quality of life and cure the 20% of children whose cancer is still resistant to treatment.
“Cascades employees are privileged witnesses of the outstanding work performed by the Fondation, stated Mario Plourde, president and CEO of Cascades. For more than 13 years, our teams get involved to contribute to research and to support children and their families. We are happy to continue doing our part for this cause which improves the lives of thousands of Quebec children.”
So far, Cascades has raised $2,755,751 through a variety of initiatives driven mostly by its employees. The signature fundraising event is the Tour CIBC Charles-Bruneau. Each year, more than ten cyclists from Cascades pedal for the cause of pediatric cancers in Quebec and create close links with sick children through the Tour.
“The Fondation Charles-Bruneau could not afford substantial investments in research without its loyal and dedicated partners, such as Cascades, mentioned Pierre Bruneau, spokesperson for the Fondation Charles-Bruneau. We also thank IGA for its collaboration to this initiative. Together, we will win the battle against pediatric cancer and allow all children to thrive and grow up healthy.”
Thanks to the Fondation Charles-Bruneau, an additional $26 million will be invested in pediatric hemato-oncology research in Quebec and will give all research teams the means to achieve their ambitions.
