Alex Harvey

Cascades has closely followed Alex Harvey’s athletic career since 2006 and is proud to have supported his many achievements. Alex has competed internationally as a cross-country skier for a number of years and has ascended the podium in a wide variety of competitions. Among his many other qualities, it is his combination of athletic ability, stamina and steadfast determination that has propelled him to success. Having taken up the mantle of his father, Pierre Harvey, Alex is now himself a role model for the next generation of skiers.

Best or most recent results:

  • 2011: Canadian gold medallist in cross-country skiing, a first for Alex. He earned his medal in the Team Spirit event, alongside Devon Kershaw at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oslo;

  • 2015: Alex ascended the podium twice at the Falun Nordic World Ski Championships;

  • 2015-2016: 2nd place in Kuusamo at the top of the season, one of the most challenging competitions on the circuit. It was one of Alex’s best performances in this type of event, a 10-K freestyle race with individual start.

Number of years in the sport:

Alex has been cross-country skiing since he was three years old and has been a member of the Canadian cross-country ski team for 11 years.

Volunteer work/cause:

Alex has served as a spokesperson for a number of organizations, and is currently the ambassador for Laura Lémerveil  (, a cause that is close to his heart.
